Q1: What is the Advanced Weight Loss Program?

A1: Advanced Weight Loss is a customized and medically supervised program that is based on real food, not pre-packaged meals, protein bars, or shakes.  The program is based on creating new habits that help to increase metabolism, decrease cravings, improve health and vitality, lose weight, and maintain results. We are thrilled to see many of our patients’ treatments eliminate or decrease medications for hypertension, diabetes, acid reflux, arthritis, sleep apnea, irritable bowel syndrome, and inflammatory medical conditions. Back to top

Q2: How is Advanced Weight Loss different than other programs available?

A2: Advanced Weight Loss is a unique, medically supervised program that brings in the “best” of all approaches to weight loss in South Texas. Advanced Weight Loss offers individualized programs to fit every weight loss need. Whether you have 10 pounds or 150 pounds to lose, we offer effective, safe, and proven weight loss results. The program utilizes Crave Control Supplement to help diminish carbohydrate cravings and an FDA approved prescription appetite suppressant, when needed. Crave Control causes the release of increased amounts of dopamine and serotonin, thereby reducing carbohydrate cravings. In this way, maintaining your weight is easier once your weight loss goal is achieved. Back to top

Q3: What prescription medication is used in the program?

A3: Phentermine is the prescription medication utilized in the program when medically appropriate. This FDA-approved medication should not be confused with the popular “Phen-Fen” combination that was used in the 1910s. Phentermine has been approved by the FDA for appetite suppression and weight loss for over 60 years and safety has been well established. The side effects of phentermine may include insomnia, constipation, dry mouth and sometimes fast heart rhythm. During the program, each person has a weekly appointment with the medical staff and is monitored closely. For various reasons, may of our patients do not take Phentamine. Patients lose weight with or without the use of Phentamine. Back to top

Q4: How much weight loss can I expect?

A4: Female patients lose between 25-35 pounds and males lose between 35-45 pounds in the 12-week option. (Note: Individual weight loss results may vary.) Back to top

Q5: What if I have “slow metabolism?”

A5: Advanced weight loss’ protocol is designed to increase your metabolic rate with the use of Crave Control, and more importantly, by the eating habits our plan includes. Back to top

Q6: Can I Participate in the Advanced Weight Loss Program if I am already taking an anti-depressant? 

A6: Many prescription medications for depression work by indirectly raising serotonin levels at the serotonin mood receptors. These medications do not raise serotonin levels at the appetite suppressant/carbohydrate craving reduction receptors, and therefore they do not help people lose weight. Contrarily, some of these medications actually lead to an increase in hunger and weight gain. The Crave Control Supplement works by a different mechanism than these prescription medications. The use of Crave Control is safe when used with prescription antidepressants, but may be given in a reduced dose to patients taking more than one antidepressant.  Back to top
